In fact, sustainable wedding ideas are something we’ve spent some time thinking about as do our best to move forward to a healthier planet.

And at I Do Drive Thru in Victoria, we’ve made it one step easier to offset your wedding, by offsetting our own carbon emissions. We have partnered with Greenfleet, using their easily, accessible carbon offset offerings.

The biggest environmental footprint of our business is our cars & the hours of travel we put in to creating magic little elopements across the country! So, we felt it was important to offset the unavoidable carbon emissions these trips create.

What is carbon offsetting?

Offsetting is a way to counteract the emissions that you can’t avoid creating and have no other way to reduce. Any activity can be offset, whether it be driving your car, taking a flight, household consumption, business resources such as paper and printing or your fishing trip out on a boat!

Offsetting emissions isn’t just about mitigating climate change. The process can have other positive impacts on the environment as well.

How does Greenfleet offset my emissions?

Greenfleet offsets our carbon emissions, by planting a range of biodiverse, native trees that will capture emissions in the atmosphere.

These forests don’t just capture carbon, they also increase biodiversity, create habitat for wildlife and restore water and land quality.

In the past 25 years Greenfleet has planted more than 9.6 million native trees in 500 forests across Australia and New Zealand.

The Greenfleet forestry team do extensive research and choose seeds and seedlings from carefully selected local nurseries to ensure they always plant native trees that are endemic to the area they will be planted in.

The areas that are planted are then monitored for the first five years to make sure they grow successfully. After that, the forests are monitored remotely but will be visited after events such as drought or bushfire to check in on their progress.

Greenfleet ensure that all trees planted in their reforestation program are protected for 100 years. This enables them to continue to grow, have a positive impact on the land quality in the area and enables the trees to create homes for native wildlife.

As the trees grow, they also sequester carbon thus protecting them long term also ensures long term, critical climate support.
