The Big Kahuna · Up to 100 guests · From $800 · 2 to 10 minutes · PA supplied
You have planned an amazing wedding day. Your people are there. The food is coming. The bar is open. The last thing you need is a ceremony that goes for 45 minutes and leaves everyone standing in the sun. Get it done in 10 minutes — beautifully, legally, and with personality — and get on with celebrating.
All cultures welcome · LGBTQ+ celebrated · Any location · PA supplied · Australia-wide · From $800
The Ceremony Is Not the Point. The Day Is.
For some couples the ceremony is the highlight. For others it is a formality — a beautiful, important, legally necessary formality, but a formality nonetheless. They are not there for the ceremony. They are there for the party, the family, the friends, the food, the dancing, and the fact that they are finally, officially, married.
If that sounds like you — welcome. The Big Kahuna was built for you. A perfectly delivered, completely legal wedding ceremony in 2 to 10 minutes. Grand entrance. Aisle walk. Music. Rings. Vows if you want them. PA supplied so every guest hears every word. Done. Now go be with your people.
A $50,000 wedding does not make you any more married than a $500 one. And a 45 minute ceremony does not make your marriage any more real than a 10 minute one. You know this. That is why you are here.

Where Do Big Kahuna Couples Get Married?
Mostly reception venues, wineries, restaurants, bars and pubs. The Big Kahuna works anywhere your guests can gather — indoors or out. Here is where our couples tend to do it.
🎊 The Surprise Wedding — Our Favourite Thing
Guests arrive thinking it is an engagement party. Drinks are flowing, everyone is relaxed. Then the celebrant stands up and five minutes later everyone in the room realises they just attended a wedding. The look on their faces is indescribable. A short ceremony is absolutely essential for this to work — and the Big Kahuna is perfect. If this sounds like something you want to do, talk to us first so we can plan it properly.

Your Celebrant Is Part of the I Do Crew
A short ceremony only works if the celebrant delivering it is excellent. There is no padding to hide behind, no long readings to fill time. Every word has to land. Every moment has to count. That is exactly why we handpick our celebrants.
Every Big Kahuna celebrant is a Commonwealth-registered marriage celebrant who has been personally selected by our founders, has been working with us since 2020, and completes their Ongoing Professional Development every year. They know how to work a room, how to use the PA, how to read the energy of your guests, and how to deliver a 10 minute ceremony that everyone in the room remembers.
How It Works for Bigger Weddings
Choose your package, pick your ceremony length, and book online. Ange assigns your celebrant and gets in touch within one business day.
For the 7 and 10 minute ceremonies, our Portal O Love questionnaire gathers the details your celebrant needs to personalise the ceremony. How you met, first impressions, what you love about each other, what you are looking forward to. A draft is sent to you before the day so you can check and adjust anything.
Meet your celebrant on Zoom. Go through the ceremony, discuss the music timing, confirm who is doing what. They will brief your music person before the ceremony so the entrance song, signing song, and exit song all land perfectly.
Your celebrant arrives at your venue approximately one hour before the ceremony to set up the PA and do a sound check. Ceremony runs for your chosen length. Certificate handed over. Everyone goes absolutely crazy welcoming you as newlyweds. Party begins.
Frequently Asked Questions
100%. The length of a ceremony has absolutely no impact on its legal validity. The legal requirements are the same whether the ceremony runs for 2 minutes or 2 hours — the required words are said, the paperwork is signed by two witnesses and the celebrant, and the marriage is lodged with BDM. Everything else is ceremony, not legality.
Yes — most Big Kahuna weddings happen at reception venues, wineries, restaurants, bars and pubs. Our celebrant liaises directly with you about the ceremony setup. Any coordination with venue staff is the couple's responsibility — but our celebrant will arrive early, set up the PA, do a sound check, and be ready well before the ceremony begins.
Yes — and we love this. The key is planning. Your NOIM must still be lodged one month in advance and your celebrant needs to be briefed in detail. The ceremony needs to be short — 5 or 7 minutes is ideal for a surprise. Contact us first so we can help you plan it properly.
Both are personalised using our Portal O Love questionnaire. The 7 minute version includes a short love story section, the legal ceremony, and ring exchange. The 10 minute full Big Kahuna adds a more detailed love story, descriptions of what each partner means to the other, and a fuller entrance and exit sequence with three songs. A draft is sent to you before the day for both.
Yes — seating, tables and ceremony setup are the couple's responsibility. Your celebrant will work with whatever is organised. At a winery or reception venue this is usually handled by the venue. At a backyard or outdoor location the couple organises chairs and setup. Your celebrant will advise on the best arrangement for the ceremony space when you Zoom.
Yes — add the Big Kahuna Photography Package at the same price as the celebrant package. Extended portrait session covering the couple and family groups. 50 edited images delivered within 7 days via Pixieset. Note: one large group photo is not included — discuss this with your photographer before the day if it is important to you.
Up to 100 guests. PA supplied. 2, 5, 7 or 10 minutes. Done beautifully. More words won't make you any more married — so get it done and get to the party.
