Where We Will Marry You in Sydney

Sydney has some of the most breathtaking ceremony locations in the world. Our celebrants are locals β€” they know exactly where to go, what permits are needed, and how to get you completely alone with the Harbour Bridge in the background on a Tuesday morning.

πŸŒ‰ Sydney Harbour Foreshore
Most popular

The Bridge, the Opera House, the sparkling water. Mrs Macquaries Chair, Barangaroo Reserve, Blues Point Reserve β€” multiple free ceremony spots with the most iconic backdrop in Australia. Arrive early and it is yours.

πŸ„ Bondi Beach
Iconic Β· Beach ceremony

Australia's most famous beach. Sunrise on a weekday and you will have the southern end almost entirely to yourselves. The light, the waves, the curved bay β€” one of the best ceremony backdrops in the country.

🌿 Centennial Park
Parkland Β· Free Β· Beautiful

189 hectares of lakes, lawns, ponds and gardens five minutes from the CBD. Grand Drive, the Federation Pavilion, the ponds β€” multiple ceremony spots across the park with no fee for small ceremonies.

πŸ™οΈ LUHRMANN STEPS, Opera House
Iconic Sydney

The steps and forecourt of the Opera House with the Harbour Bridge behind you. One of the most photographed ceremony spots in the world. Public space β€” no venue fee. Early morning on a weekday is spectacular.

🌊 Northern Beaches
Manly Β· Dee Why Β· Palm Beach

Palm Beach, Whale Beach, Manly Cove, Dee Why β€” the Northern Beaches stretch of coastline is extraordinary. Less crowded than Bondi, equally stunning, and the light in the morning is genuinely beautiful.

🏠 Your Home or Backyard
Most intimate

Your celebrant comes to you. No permit, no travel for you, complete privacy. A backyard ceremony in Sydney with just the people you love is one of the most genuine ways to get married.

🌿 Royal National Park
Coastal cliffs Β· Wilderness

Dramatic coastal cliffs, deserted beaches, ancient bushland south of Sydney. For couples who want something genuinely wild and remote β€” just an hour from the city but feeling like the edge of the world.

πŸš— A Lookout in Your Car
Our original concept

Bradleys Head, Dobroyd Head, Balmoral β€” Sydney's lookouts with Harbour views from the car. Windows down, officiant at the window, legally married in under 7 minutes with one of the world's greatest views.

How It Works in Sydney

1
Book your package

Choose your celebrant package, decide whether you want a photographer, and tell us where in Sydney you want to get married. Book directly on our site β€” no interview required.

2
We send your NOIM β€” you fill it in and lodge it with us

We send you the Notice of Intended Marriage form with full instructions. Fill it in and return it to us β€” we lodge it with BDM NSW on your behalf. Must be done at least one month before your ceremony.

3
Zoom with your celebrant β€” then meet on the day

Before the big day, jump on a Zoom with your Sydney celebrant. Ask all your questions, get location tips, and talk through how the ceremony will run. On the day they meet you at your chosen spot and marry you in 2 to 7 minutes.

4
Marriage certificate on the day β€” registered with BDM NSW

Your celebrant hands you your marriage certificate at the ceremony. Your marriage is registered with BDM NSW. Legally married. Photos delivered digitally. Rest of the day β€” and the rest of your life β€” yours.

Sydney Is a City That Celebrates Love in Every Form

We celebrate every couple without exception β€” LGBTQ+ couples, straight couples, every culture, every religion, every background. Sydney has been a marriage equality city in its heart long before the law caught up. We are proud to be part of that. No judgements. No conditions. Just a signed form and a legal marriage.

All love. Always.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to elope in Sydney?

An I Do Drive Thru Sydney elopement starts from $400 for a celebrant. Add a photographer from $400. Total from $800 for a complete elopement at any Sydney location. The NSW Registry charges from $477 for a ceremony at Pyrmont or Parramatta β€” and that requires a mandatory in-person interview before you can even book. With I Do Drive Thru you book online, no interview, any location, any day.

Does the NSW Registry require an interview?

Yes β€” before you can book a ceremony at the NSW Marriage Registry, you must attend a mandatory in-person interview at Pyrmont or Parramatta during business hours. With I Do Drive Thru there is no interview β€” you book directly online and we handle the NOIM paperwork for you.

How do I elope in Sydney?

Four steps: 1) Book your I Do Drive Thru celebrant package online. 2) We send your NOIM β€” fill it in and return it to us, we lodge it with BDM NSW at least one month before the ceremony. 3) Zoom with your Sydney celebrant to plan the day. 4) Meet at your chosen Sydney location and get married in 2 to 7 minutes. Marriage certificate provided on the day.

Where can you get married in Sydney for free?

Many of Sydney's most spectacular ceremony locations are completely free for small groups β€” Mrs Macquaries Chair, Blues Point Reserve, Centennial Park, Barangaroo Reserve, Bondi Beach, Northern Beaches coastline, and Bradleys Head. We advise on the best free spots for your group size and photography goals when you book.

What is a NOIM and do I need one in NSW?

Yes β€” a Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged with a registered celebrant at least one month before your wedding under the Marriage Act 1961. We send you the form with clear instructions, you complete it and return it, and we lodge it with BDM NSW on your behalf. Much simpler than it sounds.

Do you cover Newcastle and the Hunter Valley?

Yes β€” we have celebrant and photographer teams covering Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, and the Central Coast. Newcastle has extraordinary ceremony locations including Nobbys Beach, Merewether Beach, and the Hunter River foreshore. The Hunter Valley wine region is one of our most popular elopement destinations in NSW. Travel fees apply beyond 20km from Newcastle CBD.

Do we need witnesses for a Sydney wedding ceremony?

Yes β€” Australian law requires two witnesses at every marriage ceremony. If you want to elope with just the two of you, we supply witnesses so you do not need to bring anyone. Your photographer can also serve as one of your witnesses.

Can tourists and international visitors get married in Sydney?

Yes β€” there is no residency requirement to get married in NSW. International visitors can marry in Sydney using a valid foreign passport as ID. The NOIM must be lodged at least one month before the ceremony. We have extensive experience helping international and Australian couples plan Sydney elopements and guide you through every step.

Our Sydney Celebrant Team

Our Sydney and NSW celebrants are locals who know this city β€” the hidden Harbour spots, the beaches that empty out by 7am, the parks that need permits and the ones that don't. They have married couples on clifftops, in backyards, on boats, and at kitchen tables. Every one of them is a registered Commonwealth Marriage Celebrant who genuinely loves what they do. They will make your ceremony feel easy, personal, and completely yours β€” in 2 to 7 minutes, because more words don't make you any more married.
