The Victorian Marriage Registry Is Booked Out. We Are Not.
The Victorian Marriage Registry at Spring Street is the most popular registry wedding venue in Victoria — and in peak season it books out months in advance. When couples miss out, the Registry itself refers them to independent celebrants like us. We get those calls regularly.
But here is the thing — even when the Registry has availability, we are a better option for most couples. Here is the honest comparison:

Where We Will Marry You in Melbourne
Our Melbourne celebrants are locals. They know the secret spots, the permit-free beaches, the best light at Fitzroy Gardens at sunrise, and which Docklands lookout gets you completely alone on a Tuesday morning. Here are some favourites — but if you have somewhere else in mind, just tell us.
Sweeping English-style gardens right in the city. The Fairies Tree, the fountain, the canopy of elms — genuinely beautiful at any time of year and completely free for small ceremonies.
The beach, the pier, the palms, the bay. Arrive early on a weekday and you have it almost entirely to yourselves. One of the most photographically beautiful ceremony spots in Melbourne.
A hidden gem right in the heart of Melbourne. Cool fern gullies and a waterfall tucked inside Kings Domain — no site fee and no permit required as long as no infrastructure is set up. Genuinely beautiful and genuinely free.
Melbourne city skyline across the water. Sunset here is extraordinary. Easy parking, free access, and genuinely cinematic as a ceremony backdrop.
Mountain ash forests, Sherbrooke ferns, misty lookouts. An hour from the city but feels like another world. Perfect for couples who want drama and wilderness over inner-city polish.
Your celebrant comes to you. No permit, no parking, no strangers. Some of our most genuinely moving ceremonies have happened on a couch, at a kitchen table, or in a backyard with a BBQ on for after.
Mount Dandenong lookout, Arthurs Seat, Doris Blackburn Reserve. Windows down, celebrant at the window, legally married in under 7 minutes with the whole city below you.
The iconic fountain, the Royal Exhibition Building UNESCO World Heritage backdrop, beautiful tree-lined paths. You can book a space for up to 50 guests completely free — no site fee. One of Melbourne's most photographically stunning free ceremony locations.
Geelong · Bellarine Peninsula · Torquay · Mornington Peninsula · Phillip Island · Ballarat · Bendigo · Healesville · Warrnambool · and beyond. Travel fees apply for locations more than 20km from Melbourne CBD — just ask and we will give you an exact quote.

WHO WE ARE
We are the Melbourne founders of I Do Drive Thru — a team of passionate, marriage celebrants who’ve been getting couples married across Victoria since 2020. We know the secret spots. We know the light at Fitzroy Gardens at 7am and the best lookout in the Dandenong Ranges . We have married over 2,000 couples across Australia and we built this business on one belief that getting married should be accessible to everyone. No fuss. No drama. Just love.
🌿 Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we marry our Melbourne couples. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
♻️ Ethical & Low-Waste
A short ceremony in a park produces zero landfill and a lifetime of memories. We encourage our couples to make ethical choices — reduce waste, support small and local businesses, and be aware of emissions.
🇦🇺 Australian Owned · Women Led
I Do Drive Thru is an Australian-owned, women-led small business. Founded in Melbourne in 2020. Operating across every capital city in Australia.
💍 Australia-Wide
Our Melbourne team are also the national founders. We help couples with celebrants and photographers for elopements and weddings across every state — Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Darwin and Hobart.

Four steps: 1) Book your I Do Drive Thru celebrant package. 2) Lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) — we send you the form and lodge it with BDM on your behalf. This must be done at least one month before your ceremony. 3) Zoom with your celebrant to plan the day. 4) Meet your celebrant at your chosen Melbourne location and get married in 2 to 7 minutes. Your marriage certificate is provided on the day.
A Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) is a legal form that must be lodged with a registered celebrant at least one month — and no more than 18 months — before your wedding ceremony. It is required under the Marriage Act 1961 for all weddings in Australia. We send you the form, explain how to fill it in, and lodge it with BDM Victoria on your behalf. It is much simpler than it sounds.
Anywhere that is publicly accessible and does not restrict ceremonies. Popular free locations include Fitzroy Gardens, Carlton Gardens (bookable for up to 50 guests at no site fee), Fern Gully in Kings Domain (free with no infrastructure), St Kilda Beach, Docklands waterfront, the Yarra River banks, and lookouts in the Dandenong Ranges. We advise on any permit requirements when you book.
Yes — Australian law requires two witnesses at every marriage ceremony. If you want to elope with just the two of you, we supply witnesses so you do not need to bring anyone else. Your photographer can also serve as one of your witnesses.
Yes — there is no residency requirement to get married in Victoria. International visitors can marry in Melbourne using a valid foreign passport as ID. The NOIM must still be lodged at least one month before the ceremony. We have extensive experience helping international couples navigate the Australian marriage process and are particularly well placed to assist couples coming from overseas.
The minimum legal timeframe in Australia is one month — this is how long the NOIM must be lodged before the ceremony. If you have already lodged your NOIM with another celebrant you can transfer it to us and marry within your existing timeframe. If you are starting from scratch today, you can be married in Melbourne in as little as 31 days. Book your celebrant first, then we guide you through every step.
