Geelong’s Best Elopement locations: For a fun and stress-free wedding day!
Geelong offers some truly beautiful options for couples seeking a memorable and intimate elopement experience that is super easy to access.
People often assume you have to go somewhere remote, and far away, for an elopement to feel intimate but that really is not the case. Geelong and, its surroundings, provide so many incredible backdrops for a simple wedding ceremony; that still feels fun, easy and high on vibes.
Below are a few of our absolute favourite elopement locations in the Geelong area that will make your special day truly unforgettable, and that win just as many points for being convenient and affordable.
Geelong Botanic Gardens are filled with a diverse collection of plants and flowers, charming gazebos, and eye-catching fountains that feel like they belong in Europe. There are so many choices for gorgeous ceremony backdrops; beautiful old tress, lawns with roses in the background, native Australian plants, bamboo or maybe something a bit more tropical. This location offers so many great photo opportunities, is easy for anyone with mobility challenges to access and with so much space you are still guaranteed an intimate atmosphere for your wedding ceremony.
For nature enthusiasts seeking a little adventure, and a bit of fun pre-ceremony build-up, Buckley Falls presents a scenic little walk leading to a quaint little waterfall hidden away amongst suburbia. Surrounded by lush greenery, and the noise of running water, this spot really does feel like you are in another world. With all of the natural bush noises, it is ambient and atmospheric without even trying! And maybe the biggest drawcard of all - dogs are welcome! We know WINNING!
Eastern Beach/Geelong Waterfront and The Pier
If you're looking for a lively and entertaining elopement option, Eastern Beach, Geelong Waterfront Or The Pier has so much to offer. The iconic Geelong Bollards can add a fun and quirky element to your wedding photos, there is the potential of a ferris wheel ride, a spin on the carousel and if you are lucky a Mr Whippy Van too! And if that all sounds like extra fun, but all you are really looking for is a beautiful backdrop; we hear you, there are plenty of quiet secluded spots nearby that are right by the water. And all that other fun and noise will simply fade away as you say your vows to one another.
For a coastal elopement experience like no other, Barwon Heads Bluff is a bit of a hidden gem! This rugged and dramatic headland has breathtaking cliff-top views looking out to the ocean,or further down the coastline towards the Bellarine Peninsula. It makes a pretty awe-inspiring backdrop for an intimate elopement. You can go for a wander on the surrounding paths after, to get some pics, or head down to the beach for some pics frolicking on the sand together. And if you feel like a bite to eat, we recommend walking back towards At The Heads for a delicious meal!
If you and your partner like a bit of an adventure, the You Yangs have so many stunning elopement locations to choose from. The You Yangs have a really rugged feel to them and the view from the top is a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding area and across Port Phillip Bay. Whether you decide to exchange vows on one of the park's lookouts or amidst a bushy little inlet, the You Yangs will make you feel like you have ventured further off the beaten path than you have had to make these unique one of a kind wedding ceremony memories.
Choose a gorgeous winery on the Bellarine Peninsula
Vineyards, good wine and delicious food are guaranteed to create an instant vibe for your stress-free elopement. So many of the options we have suggested are out in nature but there is a lot to be said for pairing nature with some goof old fashioned hospitality! Why not let the staff spoil you and wait on you after you say I do! Some of our favourites wineries in the area are Jack Rabbit Winery, Terinda Estate and Merne at Lighthouse. Each has gorgeous views to look out upon, lovely staff and top quality menus to choose from.
Point Lonsdale Lighthouse
Point Lonsdale is such a charming little town filled with history. The Point Lonsdale Lighthouse and surrounding beaches provide so many beautiful little nooks for an elopement. The area is hugged by rugged cliffs and is home to plenty of rock pools at low tide and blue sea as far as the eye can see. It’s such a sweet little pocket of the Bellarine to celebrate your love in.
