Getting Married at Home in Australia: From At Home Elopement Packages to Bowling Alley Weddings!

Can you really get married at home in Australia? Absolutely, without a doubt! Getting married at home is by far the easiest and simplest way to get married! And I Do Drive Thru helps couples get married in their home (or Airbnb’s) around Australia every year!

The Charm of a Backyard Wedding

There's a certain allure to getting married at home that's hard to resist. For starters, the affordability factor cannot be overstated. When you're planning a wedding on a budget, opting for a home wedding can be the ultimate cost-saving strategy. With no need to pay for an external venue, you're already ahead of the game. A celebrant can seamlessly officiate your wedding right in the comfort of your living room, backyard, or any space that holds sentimental value.

Eloping in the Comfort of Your Own Home

Elopement doesn't always mean sneaking off to a distant and exotic location. Elopement can be about embracing simplicity and intimacy, and what better way to do that than by eloping at home? The intimacy of your home adds a personal touch to your special day, making it even more intimate and comfortable. And it adds another layer of meaning to your favourite space. Elopement packages from I Do Drive Thru are designed to cater to couples who desire a no-fuss, no-frills wedding experience that highlights the couple's love and commitment above all else.

Saying "I Do" Around The Kitchen Table

Imagine a wedding day where the venue is as familiar as your favourite spot on the couch. At home, you have the freedom to create whatever type of wedding day you desire; you can decorate, or not, you might choose to stand by the fire, sign your paperwork on the kitchen bench or sit around the table with a coffee in hand. Getting married at home brings a coziness that only your own space can truly provide. Plus, for those with young children, having the wedding at home offers the added advantage of keeping them comfortable and entertained throughout the day. With all the toys and familiarity with their surroundings, kids can be themselves and enjoy the celebration just like everyone else. And it’s easy to put them to bed and just keep on celebrating!

Wear Whatever You Want

Just cos you’re getting married at home doesn’t mean you can’t dress up for the occasion. You can wear a wedding dress or suit-up if that feels right for you. Or you can keep it casual, wearing jeans and tees; hell we have even performed weddings where the couple are wearing tracksuits and Birkenstocks with socks; we don’t care in the slightest. We match your vibe. Tho we did feel a tad overdressed in our casual wear for the trackies and Birkenstocks wedding ;)

From Loungeroom Wedding to Bowling Alley Wedding

Recently we had a low-key couple all booked into marry at home. Instead, a few weeks out they decided to make their day a bit more fun, and unique, so they swapped the ceremony from their lounge room to the local bowling alley. Cos why not!?

Our celebrant Zena felt very worried for them, for a second, when she arrived and realised it was the school holidays; the entire entertainment centre was flooded with kids! Fortunately, there was too much fun downstairs and it was just us upstairs in the bowling alley! But a hot tip for those without kids, keep an eye on school holiday schedules!
